Gosh...... my first post, my first blog....... the beginning.
I am in my early 60's , grew up in the 60's and have had a very fulfilling life. I can honestly say that I am in a very happy marriage..... 40 years ago this December I married Abe Zimmerman. Hard to believe! When we decided to get married neither one of us thought it would work since we didn't grow up with parents that were happy being together. We did know that we wanted to be together and back then it would have been very upsetting to my mother if I lived with Abe. We've had our ups and downs but for some reason we loved each other enough to keep working on it. Boy am I happy we kept working on it. My advise to most people who get married........ don't do anything radical or say something you will regret for three days after you get mad or feel hurt. It's amazing how waiting for that period of time helped me reevaluate what I was feeling.
Anyway........ to make a long story short..... we have 2 sons, Adam and Noah, who we adore and both have enriched our lives in ways I can't put into words......... (I could but it would take more time than I am willing to spend right now and it would be like asking anyone who reads this to watch my home movie).
My youngest son Noah has helped me by creating this blog. Noah is the sort of person who is always there wanting to help his family or friends do things that they have wanted to do. I credit him for getting me to do this blog. Again........ I could go on and on about each of my kids but that is not what I want to do right now but without them my life would not be half as much fun!
My blog is about Food...... I love cooking. It is how I relax. I love reading cookbooks and I love watching food channels. I love eating out and I love good food. My mom was a good cook and she passed on this passion to me. I wish I could say that I just love healthy food but............... I love pastries, pizza, cheese, Mexican food, Barbecue, Indian food, Asian food, fresh breads, Jewish food (blintzes, latkes, good matzoh ball soup, reubens, corn beef hash) good drinks, as well as fresh fruits, roasted vegetables, fresh fish, lobster scallops, crabs and shrimp, lots of garlic, good Italian food, Gumbos, Mole's, any kind of desserts, great salads (always with homemade dressings..... so easy to make a good dressing and I just don't really like most bottled dressings), I could go on and on about food ............ I also love the ability to just walk outside my front door and pick whatever herbs I need. But....Best OF ALL.... sharing it with Friends and Family. I could stay in the kitchen all day preparing a good meal and be perfectly happy.
My blog is about Gambling....... My husband and I have driven , Many, many times from Austin, Texas to Vancouver, British Columbia (one of our favorite places). We both love to play craps, throw the dice. The problem with playing craps is you can loose $ fast if the table isn't lucky and then I will go play penny slot machines for awhile. Gambling is fun and relaxing for us. We like the scenery and being outside along the way but we also like to stop and stay in casinos because it is entertaining and many times very clean rooms and very affordable rates because they want you to stay there. Throughout my blog I will comment on the different casinos we play at and stay at but not right now.
My blog is about Traveling because it is always fun to get in a car and possibly not have a route. Stay in an area because it is beautiful for a few days and go on. I love not having plans and planning your trip as you go. The best way to travel . Tomorrow we are going on a 5 day adventure with our son Noah who is visiting us in Vancouver. We usually take a ferry to an Island and take an adventure but tomorrow we are taking a ferry to Port Hardy and then early Tuesday morning taking another ferry for 16 hours to Prince Rupert, BC and then driving back to Vancouver, BC. Prince Rupert is very close to the border of Alaska....about 35 miles. Should be an interesting 5 days. Feb-March 2012 we spent a month with each other traveling Australia without an itinerary. What an adventure!
Well....... this is the beginning of my blog. It is for me and for anyone who has the desire to read it. I hope you enjoy it!
